    Answered "13"

    Protest ACCEPTED

    Round 3, Question 5: Usual Suspects, empty chair for 1
    Answered "Tokyo"
    "Tsukuba is a suburb of Tokyo"

    The City of Tsukuba is about 50 km northeast of Tokyo.

    Protest DENIED.

    Round 7, Question 6: Rica's Pieces, Sujit for 2
    Answered "Cube"
    "Squares form a cube; a dice is a cube"

    The question was very precise: cutting into small squares of 1/8" to
    1/4". Cubing is cutting into squares of 1/2" or more. Only dicing
    satisfies the question.

    Protest DENIED

    Round 7, Question 7:

    What She Said, Isobel for 2
    Cellar Rats, Mike for 2
    Answered "Saute"
    "because it fits the definition better than sweat"
    "The description matches the definition of saute"

    Sauteing involves cooking quickly in fat over high heat (several
    sources). The question said to cook gently (not quickly) in butter,
    oil, or the food own's juices (not fat) to soften but not brown.

    Answered: "Blanch"

    MI5, Val for 2
    Answered: "Blanch"

    MI5, Val for 1
    Answered: "Parboil"

    Blanching involves cooking an item partially and briefly in boiling
    salted water or in hot fat. The question said to let stand (not cook)
    in just boiled water (not boiling water). Not the same.

    Protest DENIED

    Round 7, Question 9:

    Natural Born Losers, Dave for 2
    Answered "Leavening"
    "Same as proofing"

    One of several forms of leavening involves "proofing", which is not the
    same thing, but since they are companion processes,

    Protest ACCEPTED

    What She Said, Leslie for 2
    Answered "Rest"
    "Is a synonym for the same process"

    We searched many glossaries and cookbooks, and never encountered the
    term "rest" as a synonym for proving.
